Lipid profile test
In this test, four different values
are checked that include total cholesterol, low-density
lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL cholesterol), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol
(HDL cholesterol), and lipoprotein A levels.
The risk of heart disease in a patient is high if
- Total cholesterol is more than 200 mg/dL
- LDL cholesterol
is more than 130 mg/dL
- HDL cholesterol
is less than 40 mg/dL
- High levels of
lipoprotein A are noted
Plasma ceramide levels
Plasma ceramide is a type of protein and
it is produced at high levels when a cell is about to die. If plasma ceramide
levels are high in a patient’s body then the risk of heart disease is also
high.

High-sensitivity C-Reactive protein
This is a protein produced by the liver when there is
inflammation, infection, or accumulation of fat in blood vessels in the body. People
with high sensitivity to C-Reactive protein levels have a high risk of heart
disease. This test should be taken 2 times in the time interval of 2 weeks to
get accurate results.
Lipoprotein A levels
Lipoprotein A is a type of low-density
cholesterol but it comes as a result of genetics. People with high levels of
this lipoprotein A levels will also have a high risk of heart disease.
Kauvery Hospital
It is possible to identify the risk of
heart disease early with these tests. This could help to make lifestyle changes
before it becomes too late. Kauvery Hospital has a specialized
cardiology department with some
of the best cardiologists in Tirunelveli.
It is one of the few hospitals which has the advanced technologies and
personnel required for performing heart transplantation surgery in India.
