Then the purified blood is supplied throughout the body. When the blood supply to the left side of the heart gets interrupted, a heart attack occurs.

If a certain part of the heart muscle dies, the pumping capacity of the heart gets affected. If the right side of the heart functions properly but the left side of the heart is affected, blood pools in the lungs. This can cause breathlessness in the patient which after some time can lead to death.

Untreated heart attacks can also cause ventricular fibrillation which can lead to abnormal heartbeats. This can cause immediate death at times.
